Description
Following the recommendations of the World Health Organization (WHO), the legislation of Naturopathy in Puerto Rico and the goals and objectives of the university this program aims to prepare people with a solid training in naturopathy. This program provides a research-oriented professional, access to relevant technologies and the implementation of the different methods of assessment and therapeutic of the profession to prepare people to be license as Naturopaths that are capable to:
- Educate and orient on the different aspects and modalities of naturopathy, techniques, lifestylel and natural therapies that are in harmony with this practice
- Interact and participate with physicians and other health professionals in the interdisciplinary management of the health of the patient.
- Prescribe and recommend naturopathic or integral eating habits and other natural products that do not require a medical-health prescription.
- Practice therapeutic methods authorized by Act 211, 1997.
Outcomes
General Outcomes:
- To train professionals in the field of naturopathy that contribute with relevance to the scientific development of the public health arts and sciences, and a more productive and healthy society, capable to educate and orient on the different aspects and modalities of naturopathy, techniques, lifestyles and natural therapies that are in harmony with this practice and therapeutic methods
- Teach in new or unfamiliar environments of naturopathic sciences and interact and participate with physicians and other health professionals in the interdisciplinary management of the patient's health, reflecting on their own teaching and professional development and applying knowledge to prescribe and recommend natural or integral eating habits and other natural products that do not require a medical-health prescription using good judgment, making decisions and solving problems
- Provide tools of scientific research that will enable the student to use the methodological research processes in the field of naturopathic sciences.
Specific Outcomes:
- Collaborate in the pursuit of sustainable socio-health solutions that positively impact the greatest number of communities and individuals.
- Design and manage innovative health service offers that impact the life quality development in people.
- Revise and recommend modalities of the professional that are supported scientifically.
- Analyze, evaluate and apply different natural health therapies in different physiological and pathological situations.
- Revise, analyze and apply knowledge of the practice skills to develop knowledge in evaluation y therapeutic methods characteristic of the profession in harmony with the regulations
- Analyze and discuss theoretical and practical aspects through workshops, seminars, symposiums, practices, etc.
- Analyze, evaluate and design higher education scientific research.
Target Audience
The master's degree is aimed at people with bachelor's degrees in Health Sciences who wish to deepen their knowledge in Naturopathy, as well as professionals holding other degrees that due to their professional practice wish to develop knowledge in the field of naturopathic medicine.
Duration
The maximum time to complete the program is 48 months. The credit structure of the Master in Naturopathic Sciences is:

Upon completion of the subjects and the Master Thesis/Certification Final Work, and after satisfying any other academic, administrative and economic requirement indicated by the university, the student will be granted an academic degree in:
